Lovely ensuite room with views to Glastonbury Tor in one direction and out over gardens and countryside in the other. Super bed, the best hosts, and breakfast that set us up for the day. Nothing was too much trouble (I forgot my tie and shirt and was promptly lent both. The only problem really is that my wife wants to go back. Only for longer this time...Seriously - I cannot recommend Avalon House and its brilliants hosts - Frances and Julian, highly enough. Many thanks once again.
Dear Laura and Simon - Thank you for your kind review it was a pleasure having the pair of you to stay and getting to know you (and your collar size Simon...!)
Hopefully, our review title says it all. Avalon House is just blissful. So comfortable and FRIENDLY. We stayed on our way to Cornwall from London (good stopping off place) and were looked after as if we were friends and family. A cuppa and a flapjack when we arrived and a great breakfast the next morning. The room was clean and really comfortable with better sheets than we have at home and the bathroom had everything you could ask for including seemingly endless hot water. Just perfect. Thank you from us both
Too kind - thank you. It was lovely to meet you - hopefully, you got the boat you were going to see and so will pass this way again. Pop in for a cup or tea even if you are not staying. It would be lovely to see you both again. Best - Frances
I have had to stay at various BnB's on numerous occasions for work, and I have often not had the best experience. This one however, was simply outstanding. Frances was the most brilliant host, with wine to welcome me and a delicious full spread for breakfast. I effectively had my own flat at the top of their beautiful home with a charming sitting room, massive bathroom and a fresh very comfy bed. But most of all, it was just the atmosphere of the place that made it for me, incredibly welcoming and relaxed...just a very happy home indeed and I will only be staying here from now on when I am down in the West Country. Thank you Frances and Julian for the best BnB experience I have ever had.
Such a pleasure to have you to stay - We hope your business down here prospers hugely so you come to stay again... and again
What really makes a good B&B are the hosts and they don't come much better than Frances and Julian. They are friendly without being nosy or annoying and nothing is too much trouble. There are also nice touches such as a glass of wine when I get in from work (I am in the SW on business a lot). All of which almost makes one forget the comfortable bed, proper pillows, quality bed linen and towels and a great cooked breakfast. So much better than any number of hotels I have stayed in. Which is why I stay at Avalon House again and again.
Thank you, Simon - always lovely to see you here - there will be an extra large glass of rose for you next time! Frances
We came to Castle Cary - what a sweet town - for a wedding at Cadbury Court a couple of weeks ago. Staying at Avalon House was almost better than the main event. We were cossetted and pampered, we had a lovely bedroom, huge bathroom and a sitting room to ourselves. There was a chilled bottle of rose in the fridge when we arrived and fresh flowers on the table. Such nice touches.Only two nights, unfortunately, but we just had the best time. And the hugest breakfasts...Thank you very much indeed Frances for your kindness and hospitality and Julian for pulling in a favour and organising a taxi at the last minute when all seemed fully booked. All the best - Mary Harris
3rd time with you - which probably says it all. But there is also something really nice about being told you are in your usual room, someone knowing what you want for breakfast and how you like your coffee, Sky and Netflix as well as passable internet speeds, a clean bathroom and soft sheets and towels. I just love it.
Thanks Rick - it is always a pleasure to see you here - we look forward to your staying again - Frances
Home from Home – We just had the best time. Fab linen on the beds, a lovely room with a comfortable bed and a view over garden and fields. Breakfast was delicious and a glass of wine when we arrived was as welcome as it was unexpected. Frances looked after us beautifully and nothing was too much trouble. We will surely come again.Ros and John Wilkins
Thank you - it was lovely having you to stay
